Dean Roksandic - Bambam cookies

2:00, 2006, Narrative

It is exciting action drama on a dirty road where you have a pair, two chocolate cookie junkies, that are waiting and confronting the dealer (of chocolate cookies). But I must add that this film is actually about fun of filmmaking with good friends.

Interview

Who is Dean Roksandic?I"m 29 years old, born and living in Zagreb, Croatia. I finished School of Design, Faculty of Architecture at University of Zagreb and I"m working as graphic designer and illustrator.
My pseudonym is BEMBELEMBE.

Why filmmaking?Since I was a little boy I watched films and always wanted to make one of my own. As a film fan it was kinda inevitable. It is an art that give one to express himself in many interesting ways and so is for me.

BamBam Cookies is about...It is exciting action drama on a dirty road where you have a pair, two chocolate cookie junkies, that are waiting and confronting the dealer (of chocolate cookies). But I must add that this film is actually about fun of filmmaking with good friends.

Financing your movie?Yes, I financed this movie along with the actors. I tried to make something short and funny without investing money but rather investing a good idea and will to produce something interesting.

New Media; a challenge for film makers?Well potentials are enormous because affordable filming technology as well as internet brings filmmaking to a "small" people. But as the number of those small filmmakers rises very fast, the
Challenge is bigger - you constantly need to make something better to be noticed.

Do your films have style, just as some painters have?Surely they have! I always want to film something that is shorter, nonverbal and interesting... My style is very simple - classical use of camera (more static but with carefuly composed frame) and use of basic editing transitions.

Influences?Julio Medem, Spanish director and Jean Pierre Jeunet, French director.

Which film related websites do you frequent? The Internet Movie Database

Individual film making or co-operation?I usually concept films alone, but they wouldn"t be anything without friends I"m making with. I do camera, editing, directing and part of the concept, but the actual filming with people gives the final good touch to the product.

In the future...My ambitions are under pause recently... But when the play button releases, I hope to evolve and produce more films, especially animations. I always wanted to make a full length classical film..

Did you ever had another ambition in life than to become a filmmaker?I would like to be classical filmmaker, but it"s virtually impossible. My
Realm lies within digital equipment. I have DV-8 camera.
